Facial Recognition and Self-Enhancement: Study

Facial recognition and Self-enhancement Study U of Chicago

Researchers from the University of Chicago and University of Virginia find that people's inferences about their own traits and abilities are often enhancing.  A series of experiments suggests that this enhancement extends to more automatic and perceptual judgements as well, such that people recognize their own faces as being more physically attractive than they actually are.   The study states: "Few aspects about the self are more readily observable and objectively verifiable than one's own facial image."
